Submission Guidelines for Family Income Proof
Income proof or certificate is made available to the citizens by the government confirming and testifying their annual income. This certificate is nothing but a proof of earning that establishes the annual income of citizens applicable for all legal and official purposes. This certification helps to establish the economic status of the applicant making him/her eligible for various government welfare schemes and programs, etc.
Income proofs in other words are certifications that demonstrate the ability to generate income and showcase financial stability. It is a set of documents required to verify an individual’s or business’s monthly or annual income for all legal and official purposes and helps establish economic status for eligibility in various government welfare schemes and programs. It helps with applying for government aid such as loans and scholarships. It also assists financial institutions and lending businesses in verifying the source of income.

For many scholarship programs, it is necessary for the applicants to provide proof of income each time they apply or renew their scholarships. The scholars may submit or upload any of the following documents as valid income proof.
1. Local Authority Certification : Income proof issued by the following authorities:
Gram Panchayat
Ward Councillor
Sarpanch
2. Government Official Certification: Income proof or certificate issued by the following officials:
DM
SDM
CO
Tehsildar
3. Employment Earnings: Latest salary slips of the last three months if the earning member is employed in a private or public company.
4. Tax Returns: Latest Income Tax Return (ITR) document of the earning member.
These documents are crucial for verifying the financial eligibility of the scholars applying or renewing their scholarships.
In general, the revenue officials (VAO) such as the Tehsildar, Deputy Tehsildar, or one of the following government authorities are responsible for issuing the income certificate:
Deputy Commissioner
District Magistrates
Sub-Divisional Magistrates
Revenue Circle Officers
Other District Authorities
It carries necessary details like name, sources of income, earned income, validity period of the certificates etc. A typical income certificate format is provided hereafter. It may be pointed out that the income certificate is attested with signature and stamped with the seal of the issuing authority/department.
